Greg Hamm has been behind the mic for over a decade, ever since he first stepped in to announce a couple of varsity basketball games at his kids’ high school. Though he’ll tell you he didn’t do so well in those early days, the school clearly thought otherwise—he quickly became the voice of their boys’ and girls’ basketball and football teams. Over the years, Greg has lent his voice to everything from volleyball and soccer playoffs to baseball games, graduation ceremonies, and major school events.
When his kids moved on to college, Greg followed suit, announcing football and basketball games at the collegiate level, including conference final Cross Country meets and National Championship tournaments for men’s and women’s basketball. He’s also brought his signature energy to the semi-pro ranks, filling in for teams like the St. Paul Pioneers and the Twin Cities Sabercats.
Greg’s love for women’s athletics goes way back to middle school, when a chance encounter with a softball practice turned into a lifelong appreciation. These days, he calls announcing “a pretty good scam”—he gets to enjoy live sports regularly, and his wife can’t complain because technically, he’s “working.”
Now, Greg is thrilled to be part of the Vixen game-day experience and can’t wait for the season to kick off!
