The undefeated Minnesota Vixen have secured their first IWFL Midwest Conference Championship Title. The title comes after 18 seasons of dedication, determination and discipline.
Three years ago the Vixen, under new ownership, set forth to build a high caliber team that would perform on the field and be known as an organization for their integrity. They started by assembling a outstanding coaching staff, gaining community support, expanding the roster size and finding those dedicated and hardworking athletes who were hungry for victory to fill that roster. The 2016 season has seen the payoff.
The Vixen were able to go an incredible 8-0 game record this season. Even more incredible is that Coach Damion Topping’s defense only allowed 1 defensive touchdown the entire season. The Vixen as a team outscored opponents 243 points to 13 points during the regular season.
The owners, coaches, staff and players have put in the hard work to earn their chance at the post season. “All the off-season work you did, every CrossFit session you attended, every practice, every drill and every rep, it all added up.” Stated Head Coach Brandon Pelinka when addressing the players on their accomplishment. Now it’s time to turn their focus on the post-season battle with the New York Sharks.
The Vixen will host the New York Sharks July 9th at Simley High School in an IWFL playoff game. Kickoff is at 6 pm. The winner will advance to the IWFL Championship Game in North Carolina on July 21-23 during IWFL Championship Weekend.
