IWFL Names 5 MN Vixen Players and Head Coach to All- Star Team

The Minnesota Vixen are happy to announce 5 players and Head Coach have been named to the 2015 IWFL All-Star Team. All five players, Cynthia Bryant, Emily Evans, Courtney Gibson-Thomas, Jeanie Nelson, Erin Tilford, were named to the Western Conference All Stars First Team.

Cynthia ‘Red’ Bryant has been playing for the Vixen since 1999. Red is arguably the best defensive linemen in the league and is consistently one of the leaders in tackles and tackle for loss.

Emily Evans led the team to a 6-2 season as quarterback and a team captain. Emily threw for over 1000 yards this season and is in the top 5 quarterbacks in the league.

Courtney Gibson-Thomas is a key offensive line player. In only her second season, she earned a spot on the IWFL 2015 ALL-Star Team.

Jeanie Nelson was a breakout rookie player this year. She was an impact player on both offense and defense. She led the team in rushing (421 yards, 5.4 avg), touchdowns (7), and was second in interceptions (4).

Erin Tilford led the Vixen in tackles and reception yards with 332 yards averaging 27.6 yards per catch. More impressively, she also led the league in interceptions with 7 and returned one for 100 yards against the Iowa Crush in week 10.

Coach Brandon Pelinka has led the team to back-to-back winning seasons in his two year tenure as Head Coach. In his first season as Head Coach, the Vixen had a 6-2 record with a bowl appearance in the inaugural Legacy Bowl. In 2015 under his leadership, the Vixen coaching staff was able to take a roster that was over 50% rookies and develop a winning season with a 6-2 record.

The 2015 IWFL All Star Game will be held in Rock Hill, SC on Saturday July 25th as part of the 2015 IWFL Championship Weekend. Kickoff is at 10 a.m.

The MN Vixen are going to the Legacy Bowl!

Champ Week banner

The Minnesota Vixen are honored to be chosen to play in the first ever Legacy Bowl on Friday, July 25 in Rock Hill, SC!

But these dedicated women who make up the Vixen need your help!

The host of the Legacy Bowl, the Women’s Football Foundation, invited the MN Vixen to play in the first ever Legacy Bowl not only because of their winning performance on the field but for their off the field presence as well. For 15 years the women of the Vixen have been trailblazers in the sport and are well known for their integrity and dedication in the women’s tackle football community.

Now the team needs to raise funds in order to travel to Rock Hill, South Carolina to continue the tradition. Every dollar really does make a difference, so please donate and help your MN Vixen bring home the Inaugural Legacy Bowl Championship!!

On behalf of all the MN Vixen players and staff, a big thank you!
